About

GSI brings proven expertise to the toughest ground engineering and geohazard challenges.

Backed by nearly three decades of global expertise originating in North America, GSI expanded into New Zealand in 2017 following unprecedented demand after the Kaikōura earthquake.

Through the acquisition of Hiway Geotechnical in 2019, GSI strengthened its ground-engineering capability to become the country’s leading provider of geotechnical solutions.

Bringing this international experience across New Zealand, Australia, the South Pacific and North America to local terrain, from slips and slopes to soft ground and contamination; we protect the land, infrastructure and buildings people rely on every day.

We’re a passionate, close-knit crew of engineers, builders and problem-solvers.

It’s this teamwork that allows us to offer a complete geotechnical design, build and deliver solution for some of the world’s toughest geotechnical problems.

Being part of one of the world’s largest and most innovative geotechnical networks gives us access to cutting-edge knowledge. And at the same time, New Zealand’s unique geology challenges us to develop solutions that are now leading the way internationally.

In a nutshell, we love what we do:

Serving our clients with the newest technologies, the best solutions, and the fastest possible service to turn real-world challenges into success stories that are strong, stable, secure and safe.
